Release of Paparazzi v4.0

Dear Paparazzi Community,

The Paparazzi Development Team is please to announce the release of the Paparazzi v4.0 stable version.

After several month of testing and debugging, the release preparation branch v3.9 has been renamed v4.0. If you are already using paparazzi with Git, you can switch to this new branch with git checkout -b v4.0 v4.0. For new users, it will be the default branch when getting the source code from Github. You can also download a Zip file of the source code (https://github.com/paparazzi/paparazzi/zipball/v4.0).

Before Christmas (and maybe the end of the world) the Paparazzi Development Team is please to announce the release of the Paparazzi v4.2.0 stable version.

Based on the last stable branch v4.0, this new release offer several improvements, especially the total energy control developed by TUDelft:
  • Total energy control
  • Improve Google map tiles download
  • Several updates on the Digital Cam and photogrammetry modules
  • WMM210 model
  • Rate limiter in airframes control laws
  • Uart flow control (stm32)
  • Bug fix for INS and AHRS filters
  • AP/FBW separation using spi or uart
  • Sensors fix and addition (GPS, current, baro)

My name is Vicent Sarrió from Spain and I am very interested in UAV project. I have some expirience in autopilots in particular ARDUPILOT. I am amateur but I have degree in engeneer. I think that can solve  basic problems ... and somethings more. Everything I need to know what I can substitute forward eager to learn.

I am finished a project of a solar plane. The design procedure has been to show in Phd. André Noth (Design of Solar Powered Airplanes
for Continuous Flight) in his Thesis. This reference was very useful and I think a brillant job. The report The Sun-Surfer
Design and construction of a solar powered MAV by Mr. Niels Diepeveen was very interesting also.

To center the question:
I need a autipilot to this project and I think the best option is paparazzi system.
I have IR sensor (horizontal and vertical) from ARDUPILOT. I need 5 analog input in airborne equipment. What best option in paparazzi project?. I think TWOG or Tiny 2.11 but I am not secure. Is it posibble to find a solution in newest developments (UMARIM)?.

Probably is a very obvious question but it is difficult to me.

Dear Vicente Sarrió,
i am confused for the analogue Inputs: 2 for Horizontal + one for contrast (but 6 IR sensors).
May bee you have to chnage 2 resistors in the IR sensor  (3V Input of paparazzi  5V for the ARdupilot).
Twog is good for you or perhaps yapa. Umarin has the IMU on board
You can also use a low cost IMU from Drotek (17 Euro) for the Twog and Yapa.
Flying with imu is more save than flying with IR sensors.

if the IMU option is more secure than IR sensors perhaps UMARIN could be a good option.
My question: For several analog inputs (current sensors, voltaje sensors, ... ), is it posible to manage with UMARIN?. I don't watch analog inputs like TWOG. Perhaps I2C I don't know...

The ADC in the microcontrollers employed in PPZ can only interface analog voltages. For measuring currents (such as measuring the battery consumption), you have to add extra instrumentation.

The Umarim board has 4 AUX inputs that can be used as GPIO, ADC and some other stuff. If you need more ADC inputs, you will have to use extenal ADC with i2c or spi connection to the autopilot or use digital sensors.

Yes I know. I use for measuring voltage and current the Attopilot sensor.

Depending on your requirements you will find the module that fits better to you.

My name is Vicent Sarrió from Spain and I am very interested in UAV project. I have some expirience in autopilots in particular ARDUPILOT. I am amateur but I have degree in engeneer. I think that can solve  basic problems ... and somethings more. Everything I need to know what I can substitute forward eager to learn.

I am finished a project of a solar plane. The design procedure has been to show in Phd. André Noth (Design of Solar Powered Airplanes
for Continuous Flight) in his Thesis. This reference was very useful and I think a brillant job. The report The Sun-Surfer
Design and construction of a solar powered MAV by Mr. Niels Diepeveen was very interesting also.

To center the question:
I need a autipilot to this project and I think the best option is paparazzi system.
I have IR sensor (horizontal and vertical) from ARDUPILOT. I need 5 analog input in airborne equipment. What best option in paparazzi project?. I think TWOG or Tiny 2.11 but I am not secure. Is it posibble to find a solution in newest developments (UMARIM)?.

Probably is a very obvious question but it is difficult to me.

Before Christmas (and maybe the end of the world) the Paparazzi Development Team is please to announce the release of the Paparazzi v4.2.0 stable version.

Based on the last stable branch v4.0, this new release offer several improvements, especially the total energy control developed by TUDelft:
  • Total energy control
  • Improve Google map tiles download
  • Several updates on the Digital Cam and photogrammetry modules
  • WMM210 model
  • Rate limiter in airframes control laws
  • Uart flow control (stm32)
  • Bug fix for INS and AHRS filters
  • AP/FBW separation using spi or uart
  • Sensors fix and addition (GPS, current, baro)

There is not the best product.

Depending on your requirements you will find the module that fits better to you.

The ADC in the microcontrollers employed in PPZ can only interface analog voltages. For measuring currents (such as measuring the battery consumption), you have to add extra instrumentation.

Dear Vicen

i am confused for the analogue Inputs: 2 for Horizontal + one for contrast (but 6 IR sensors).
May bee you have to chnage 2 resistors in the IR sensor  (3V Input of paparazzi  5V for the ARdupilot).
Twog is good for you or perhaps yapa. Umarin has the IMU on board
You can also use a low cost IMU from Drotek (17 Euro) for the Twog and Yapa.
Flying with imu is more save than flying with IR sensors.
